Questions of record

Matters Addressed Before
a Ledger Is Opened.

The particulars a proprietor ought to settle before an engagement is signed. Answered as we would in person.

01

How is the work billed?

As a fixed monthly retainer, agreed in writing before the first entry is posted. The figure is set per engagement against your transaction volume and headcount — not by the hour, and not against the clock.

02

Which businesses do you serve?

Small service firms — contractors, salons, design studios, clinics, and trades — carrying one to roughly twenty-five on payroll. If your month is measured in invoices and timesheets rather than inventory, the books suit us well.

03

What ledgers do you keep the work in?

QuickBooks Online and Xero for the general ledger; Gusto for payroll runs and filings. If your records already sit elsewhere, we migrate them cleanly before the first close.

04

How soon are questions answered?

Within one business day, every day we keep — Monday through Friday, eight in the morning to seven in the evening. Payroll queries dated before a run are answered the same day.

05

Do you prepare and file taxes?

We keep the books return-ready and work hand in glove with your CPA at filing. We are a bookkeeping and payroll office, not a tax-preparation firm — a distinction we hold to deliberately.

06

What is required to begin?

Read-only bank and card access, your last filed year-end, a current payroll register, and a half-hour conversation. The first reconciled close follows within the opening month.

01 / Monthly Bookkeeping

Every transaction, entered and classified.

Each month we record, categorise, and close your books to a defined calendar — not when there is a spare afternoon. You receive a profit-and-loss statement and balance sheet you can actually read, with a short written note on anything worth your attention.

02 / Bank Reconciliation

The books agreed to the bank, to the cent.

Every account — operating, savings, credit line, and merchant — tied out against its statement each month. Discrepancies are chased to their source and documented, so a figure you rely on is a figure that holds.
